Concert – Saturday 24th April at Union Chapel

Maggie had prepared a poster for photocopying and enlarging if necessary. It was agreed that in future publicity should be available at least one month before the concert and that members of the choir should be involved in the distribution of leaflets and posters.

All agreed that a bouquet of flowers should be presented to the Accompanist following the concert and Irene agreed to purchase them.

Admission to the concert would be free but donations would be invited for the Church. It was agreed that we would prepare a notice suggesting a donation of £5. We would also ask for donations for refreshments.

Publicity

It was reported that about 800 people had visited the choir website, managed by Chris. All agreed that the cost was money well spent.

Eileen reported that ‘The St George’s Singers’ of Poynton had recently held a choral course for new singers, at the end of which all those taking part were given a folder of information about local choirs, including ours. We had been asked to send information for inclusion in the pack about the size of the choir, our meeting place, rehearsal day and the type of music we sing.

Henry Watson Music Library

Glyn reported that the Library is now closed for three years whilst a major refurbishment is carried out.

Choir Membership

Membership stands at just under 30 at present.

Treasurer

Jill was thanked for her careful housekeeping.

Rehearsal Keyboard

The acquisition of a rehearsal keyboard is on the back-burner at present.

The Sixteen

Maggie reported that The Sixteen were giving a concert in Blackburn Cathedral in June.

There being no further business the meeting ended at 1.30 pm.
