Apologies
: Irene Thomas (Venue Organiser)
Committee Membership
Irene had resigned as Venue Organiser owing to her commitments to the Project based at the Chapel. It is important that someone else be appointed quickly - preferably someone who lives locally - who would liaise with the local residential homes and follow up the contacts made last year to arrange carol singing.Choir Folders
Eileen reported that the black Choir Folders cost £5.99 each plus £1.60 p&p if purchasing one to five folders. If six or more are ordered the price is £5.99 inclusive of p&p.
Scarves
Jill reported that she and Maggie had purchased sufficient chiffon for about 40 scarves which they will make in due course.Accompanist
Glyn will make contact with a lady from Bakewell who works at Manchester University to see if she is interested. Failing that, there is another possibility.
Keyboard
Glyn reported that a keyboard has been purchased which he will store at home. The stand is here but has some parts missing which are awaited. The keyboard will then be used each week for rehearsals and performances. It may open up venues which at present are not available to us because there is no piano.
Publicity
We ought to advertise intensively - preferably locally because of the cost of travelling. Our three-fold leaflets look better in colour but cost much more to produce than in black and white. Maggie would check to see if she had the original colour version on her PC. Copies should be put in local libraries and could be inserted in the O & A booklets. Three new members found the choir through the chapel booklet.
Bakewell Messiah
Glyn reported that there would be another Singalong Messiah at Bakewell Parish Church on Saturday 3rd December. About 250 singers attended the last one.
Concerts
There are no plans for a concert with the Orchestra next year but we will probably hold a Spring Concert for the Chapel. The Choir has been approached to sing in Stretford in May at the centenary celebrations for Longford Park. This would include music from the 1912 era.
There being no further business the meeting ended at 1.30 pm.
